Love My Merrells!
This is my fourth or fifth pair of Merrell (specifically Moab) hiking shoes, over the span of about 15 years. They have always been comfortable and well made, and I'm happy their quality is still there after all these years - unlike many other companies whose quality has gone downhill lately. But I digress, and now back to this particular pair of shoes!I wore them straight out of the box yesterday for a 14-mile hike on a trail rated moderate on some sections of the trail, strenuous on others, and they were typical Merrell Moab excellence in terms of comfort, support, stability, and traction. Plus these shoes do not feel heavy on the feet.For a general idea as to the amount of pressure/impact I put on my shoes, I am 5'3, 135, age 52 and wear these in 6.5Also the waterproofing on these shoes is excellent. As long as you don't step in water that goes over the shoe opening above the ankle, these shoes will keep water out, and I did try that out yesterday by stepping into a shallow stream. Lastly I love the variety of color choices available.Definitely recommend these shoes!

Super comfortable!
Excellent boots for hiking. Extremely comfortable and sturdy. I don't think they are really "waterproof" but they do resist water in small amounts -- not for walking through streams, etc. I suggest going to the larger size if you're indecisive. They are roomy and have a good sized toe-box, but if you want to thicken up on socks, size it up. You can always cinch down when you tie it to get a tighter fit. I bought a pair of low-tops, too.
