Easy to use budget light
I’ve bought quite a few Neewer products over time, and they’ve always felt like a solid, affordable option for camera gear. This LED light panel kit is pretty in line with that.I’m overall happy with it. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s very easy to use, which honestly matters more sometimes than having a more complicated setup. This works really well if you just need a quick lighting solution for recording on your phone or adding a bit of extra light to a scene.The tripod is lightweight and easy to move around, and the light panel itself is slim and fits securely onto the stand. The light is adjustable in both brightness and color temperature, which is a nice feature, and it actually gets pretty bright for its size.I also like that it comes with a phone holder that clips onto the tripod. It’s definitely more on the basic side and made of plastic, so I don’t expect it to last forever in terms of durability, but it does hold the phone securely and gets the job done.Overall, this feels like a really convenient setup for quick, simple videos or photos. It’s affordable, easy to use, and versatile enough to noticeably improve lighting, which makes a big difference in how your content looks. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a straightforward and budget-friendly lighting option.
Great lightweight portable light
This is a simple to use and adjustable lighting panel that's perfect for the amateur vlogger or video enthusiast. I am using this in my classroom to provide some basic lighting for our morning announcements "studio" set up. The part that I like the most about this set up is that is is extremely lightweight and portable. It can easily be disassembled to save space which is rather tight in our classroom. It does not have a built in battery so in order to make the most of this light I have paired it with an external battery pack--so the length of the battery is dependent on the size of the external battery that you use with it. The color emitted from the light is a bright white light but there are settings to change it into a soft yellow light if that's what's needed for your environment. Overall, I found that this lighting set up to be highly functional, durable, and a great addition to our amateur studio set up. It was a good value for my money and I'm considering getting a second one to balance out the light from two angles.
Basic video light panel does a basic job
I have mixed feelings about this NEEWER BASICS15W LED video light panel. The light itself provides an even illumination. Overall it is a nice size, and portable. The 15W power draw is very minimal. The tripod provides good flexibility, with the ability to aim the light downward toward objects.However, the tripod is pretty cheap-feeling with lightweight plastic knobs. Don't accidentally drop this or something might break. No bag is included for carrying/storage.The color temperature is also too wide. 2400/4000/7400K is a very wide spread. 2400 is way too yellow, 7400 is too cool. The 4000 is probably the mode I'll exclusively use. I wish I could select a 3000-3500K mode as well as a 5000K mode. When disconnected from power it forgets where you left it, so if you want to use 4000K, you always have to cycle past 2400K first.The included power cord with wired controls is short -- just over 6 feet. So you can't be very far from your power source, and/or need a USB-A extension cable. The good thing is that this can be powered from a USB power bank. The 10 brightness levels provides a good deal of flexibility.The included phone holder is a nice idea, but not something I'll be using.For the money, it is a fair value. It is very easy to put together. The included sheet gives instruction on how to download the manual, but it's pretty easy to figure out how to put together without it.
Decent light, but too short if you plan using phone clam while standing
Simple and basic light. The quality of light emitted is nice and diffused. Can cycle between cool, warm, and something in between. My biggest issue with the actual light is the fact that the USB cord is proprietary with all the controls integrated inline on that. So if you lose/break the usb cable, you also lose your ability to control the light. Not a good design IMHO. The phone holder works but isn't great. The light stand is too short for a well framed host stand-up as the light and phone will be looking up at the talent if they're average height or taller.
Great for the home office and small camera setups
As a someone who works from home, I spend a huge chunk of my day on calls and I really needed to upgrade my lighting setup. I used to struggle with harsh shadows or looking washed out, but this panel has solved that completely. Because it uses edge lit technology, the light is incredibly soft right out of the box, which is something I really appreciate coming from a photography background.The build quality is solid and the stand is simple to adjust to the perfect height for my desk. One specific thing I love is the versatility of the mount. I was actually able to mount my Osmo camera directly to the light stand, which saved me some precious desk space and made my whole setup much more compact. The light output is strong but not blinding, and having the ability to dial in the color temperature from warm to cool helps match the ambient light in the room perfectly. It is a fantastic value for the price and has made my video presence look much more professional.
