    Ja, was soll ich sagen... Ein Muss, wenn man mal wieder auf Vinyl umsteigt. Toller Sound, spannende Musik. Klare Empfehlung für alle, die mal eben keinen Einheitsbrei wollen.

    ...wäre die exakte Definition dieser 50th Anniversary Collector`s Edition der Jazz-Jahrhunderscheibe schlechthin. Sony hat sich, sicht-, hör- und fühlbar Mühe gegeben. Schon die Verpackung hat es in sich, kein billiger, filigraner Pipifax, sondern edler, massiver, dunkelblauer Pappschuber, 2 CD`s, eine DVD, 60seitiges Buch inclusive diverser loser Fotoprints, und eine blau eingefärbte (wie originell!) 180g Vinyl-Platte beinhaltend! Neben den klassischen Stücken enthalten die CD`s alternate Takes, die allerdings partiell bereits auf "Basic Miles" veröffentlicht wurden! Die DVD bietet hochinteressantes Material, Musikerinterviews etc.! Das Buch - für mich allein schon den Kauf wert - eine Klasse für sich! Also alles tadellos und empfehlenswert? Eigentlich schon, wäre da nicht diese blaue Scheibe, auf die Analogliebhaber naturgemäß besonderen Wert legen! Die tanzt nämlich ungebührlich aus der Reihe und ist schlicht gesagt eine herbe Enttäuschung! Anfängliche Rumpelgeräusche, Knistern und Knacken, das sich besonders in ruhigeren Passagen zu ernsthaftem Störfaktor aufschwingt, nähren den Verdacht, dass es sich hier um eine schlampige Billigpressung handelt und lassen den Hörer nach dem Abspielen in einem Zustand zurück, den man treffenderweise mit "A little Kind of Blue" umschreiben könnte!

    ...und dieser Titel ist eigentlich nicht einmal untertrieben. Ich bin für meine Verhältnisse relativ jung und eigentlich durch 60s, Acid-Rock und übriges Beeinflusst gewesen. Vor einem Jahr hab ich dann einfach mal zufllig KInd of Blue gekauft, mal was neues ausprobieren. Was ich da hörte trotzt jeglicher Beschreibung und wenn man sieht was heutzutage so im Radio läuft kann man eigentlich nur noch mit dem Kopf schütteln.Nun ist es schon eine Weile her und das Album ist mir so richtig ans Herz gewachsen. Deshalb habe ich mir diese Collection bestellt, und wurde in keinem Punkt meiner Erwartungen enttäuscht sondern sogar übertroffen! Dieses Teil ist der absolute Hammer. Ich war shcon lange nicht mehr so voll Freude und so angetan von einer 'CD'. Natürlich ist es vielmehr als das, in die DVD habe ich noch nicht reingeschaut aber alleine das Buch ist schon das Geld wert. Was noch so alles reingepackt wurde ist eine wahre Freude.Als ich dann die LP bei meinem Herren auf den Plattenspieler legte ging die Sonne für mich auf! Auch wenn die LP ansprechend gestaltet ist wirkt sie von der Verarbeitung etwas billig. Am Anfang rauschte es ein wenig, aber Miles Musik entschädigt für alles. Und ein wenig Knistern ist für den Vintage-Freund in Ordnung, für knisterfreien Hörgenuss hat man ja immernoch die CD.Ich könnte hier noch Seitenweise meine ersten Eindrücke schildern aber ich sage einfach nur dieses Album ist ein muss fü den Kind of Blue-Liebhaber und für alle die etwas besonderes wollen. Die Box ist jeden Cent wert und wohl eine sicherere Wertanlage als man sie bei der besten Bank bekommt, nur werde ich das Ding nie wieder verkaufen, dafür hängt es mir jetzt schon zu sehr am Herzen!

    Reviews seem to have been combined across different versions, which might be what is creating confusion here. This listing IS for the RSD mono copy (make sure you see that in the title). Either way, when you receive it It'll be very clear on the packaging. If you don't see Mono on the packaging, ask for a replacement!I have a very good stereo copy, but have always wanted this in mono. This version did not disappoint. Though the tape noise is a little louder than my liking, the pressing itself is very quiet and clean. Great clarity, and the mono mix does not feel artificial. Now that I have this, I do not feel like I ever need to acquire another copy. So if you can get this one, you should be satisfied without paying the Mofi price.On a side note, the cover had a giant crease in it, so I'm grabbing another copy. This was certainly due to it being shipped in a loose box without any support, originating from Washington state. I don't experience this issue with the southern Ontario departure points, which always use an appropriate LP box within the shipping box. Make note Amazon!Also, there were no surprise custom fees, unlike what another poster endured. If it says Prime, my experience has always been free shipping with no fees, regardless of the originating warehouse.

    Great-sounding jazz and a great pressing

    Kind of Blue by Miles Davis is an absolute classic and one of the most important jazz records ever made.Beyond the music itself, this 180-gram pressing is excellent. The vinyl feels substantial and well made, and the pressing quality is very clean. Surface noise is minimal, with quiet backgrounds that really let the music breathe. The soundstage is wide and natural, with great separation between instruments and a warmth that suits this album perfectly.The dynamics come through beautifully — the horns have body without harshness, the bass is full and controlled, and the cymbals sound smooth and natural. It’s the kind of pressing that encourages you to sit back and listen all the way through.A timeless album paired with a high-quality pressing. This is an essential record and a fantastic addition to any vinyl collection, especially if you appreciate well-pressed, great-sounding jazz on vinyl.

    4 i pół gwiazdki, bo o ile ogólnie winyl brzmi dobrze, to fortepian w najbardziej dynamicznych momentach się przesterowuje. Dla purysty dźwiękowego to może być irytujące.
