Thin but very strong plastic bags.
I have used them for several years now for shopping and for garbage bags when worn out. They are thin and may tear if cut by hard plastic containers, but otherwise they are very strong and easily rolls up in your pocket. At 15L they are relatively small but I have never felt they are impracticable.
