    In orthodontics sometimes we need to "shave" the in between teeth (what we call IPR or inter proximal reduction) to make space to allow teeth to align properly. We use these gauges sometimes to check how much we've shaved. These gauges are accurate and sterilize well without rusting or corrosion but time will tell with repeated sterilizations if they start to degrade. Overall very happy with these gauges and priced very well. I'm sure these can be used in non-dental applications as well when you need to measure gaps with tenths of a millimeter precision.
