Works, but Multiple Issues
It's VERY pretty!! However, it's had shortfalls and technical issues that I suppose I should have expected for a piano at this price. Here are some of the struggles I've had...-This is my first time having a piano with a detached pedal. It slides around. It might be okay on carpet, but nothing worked for me to keep it in place on a vinyl floor until I stuck it down with 3M tape.-When I first assembled the piano and played that same day, there was a horrible constant static that made me think I would have to return the piano - even though I couldn't imagine repacking everything! However, by the next day, the static was mostly gone. I don't know if that's normal for electronics settling in? Sometimes, it still starts up again, but it stops pretty quickly. It was a horribly uncomfortable experience in the ears when happening, not to mention incredibly distracting from making music. It happened both thru headphones and thru the external speakers when I disconnected the headphones.-Keys are not weighted.-Headphone jack is in the center of the back of the piano. This means the cord comes up under the piano and across your lap, bumping your forearms as you play. I previously had a piano with the headphone jack in the front, at the left-hand side of the piano, and I never noticed the cord. With the cord right in front of me now, I have to make a concentrated effort to ignore it when playing.-The music stand cannot hold a binder or normal size sheet music. It's too short, and the groove for the music to sit in isn't pronounced enough. The music or binder will slide right down onto the keys no matter how you sit it. 3M tape to the rescue again... I now have a 3-ring binder adhered to the music stand, which will pose an issue if I want to switch the binder out for another form of music (paper, book, tablet, etc). I didn't know that the 3M tape would be so sticky, and when I went to take my binder to my first rehearsal after implementing this fix, I found I could not get the binder off and had to take the binder with the music stand attached to the rehearsal. I've since bought a second binder and just have to switch my music out into my "take with me" binder, as the one that's stuck to the piano music stand isn't going anywhere. If you play by ear and don't need a stand, it won't be an issue of course, and it might be tall enough for a tablet - but it's a pretty poor design for anyone who plays with music.-I probably could have gathered this from the ad, but there isn't a built-in cover for the keys. They send you this fringed purple piece of fabric that doesn't really fit the clean modern aesthetic of the piano. I use one of my own throw blankets instead to keep dust off the keys. It works.For the price, this piano has allowed me to prepare well enough for my current musical obligations. Also, the bench is nicely padded and has decent storage. Assembly of both bench and piano is easy. If I had known about the issues above, however, I'd have paid a higher amount to get a more functional instrument.
