    Poor quality control

    Here we have a soap cutter for slicing those larger loaves down into manageable hand-sized bars.It's a simple item, flat-packed plywood panels that screw together (all fittings and a screwdriver included), to form a classic wire slicer. Not a huge amount to go wrong you would think.I worried that it wouldn't be sturdy enough to cut a hard loaf, but the frame is actually pretty rigid once screwed together, and you can get good tension in the cheese-wire.Unfortunately, mine just doesn't align properly. The wire does not fall into the recessed groove. The tolerances are off quite significantly, it's about 5mm out at one end. I can physically force the cutter across to bring that end into the groove, but then it catches at the other end. It's on a slight skew. I don't know whether the cutter part itself is slightly out, or the guide that it bolts into. Either way this is due to shoddy manufacturing, and it makes the product unusable.So not much more I can say really. If the wire lined up, it would likely be a four or five star product, but it is simply unfit for purpose and I can't even test it out.

    Adjustable wire slicer, easy to cut soap

    This was much easier to put together than I thought it was going to be. It is easy to attach all the parts together and the instructions are easy to follow.I wondered if this would be possible to use with polymer clay but it didn't work as well as I would have liked. The wire doesn't cut the clay neatly enough, but it did work perfectly for soap. It slices through the soap like butter. I think it is ideal for this purpose. I tested it with 'clear glyerine melt and pour soap' and it cut it perfectly and with ease. You can easily change the wire and the instructions again, are easy to follow. The wooden cuter comes with spare wire. It is easy to adjust the looseness or tightness of the wire so that it is exactly how you would like it to be.This is a economical tool for cutting handmade soap and I will get a lot of use out of it. I am happy also with the extra wire and that everything is easy to follow to get it up and running.The current price is £23.39 which seems very fair.I have added photographs.
